The District Attorney is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in the Couty.  At the District Attorney's Office, prosecutors decide whether to move forward with criminal charges against the accused after police make an arrest.
The Chester County Bail Agency monitors individuals who have been released on bail. A person released on bail will be required to report to the Bail Agency periodically while they are waiting a resolution of the pending case.

All documents filed in a criminal case are stored in the Clerk of Courts Office.  Additionally, any evidence submitted at the time of trial will be kept at the Clerk of Courts.
If an individual is convicted of a crime in Pennsylvania and they are sentenced to a term of probation, they will be given a Probation Officer to monitor post-conviction progress.  Similarly, anyone released from prison will be assigned a parole officer

The Court of Common Pleas of Chester County is a general jurisdiction trial court located in West Chester, Pennsylvania. There are 13 full time judges and 4 senior judges. These judges would preside over a criminal trial and determine sentencing.
The District Justice is the gatekeeper for all criminal offenses.  It is at District Court where it is determined whether there exists enough evidence to proceed to trial.  In addition all summary citations and traffic offenses are heard at the District Court.
